A BEAUTIFULLY RENOVATED WHITE HOME IN NORTH LONDON

After showing you Paul Massey's soothing, modern country house in Primrose Hill, I contacted him to get hold of photos of the house he had renovated in Crouch End.
House Tour BODIE and FOU Le Blog Karine Candice Kong White Interiors
His home in Crouch End has always been one of my inspirations, mostly because the layout of our London home is very similar (and I suspect similar to yours if you live in the UK) and I absolutely love what he has done with the two front rooms, which are very often small and dark when a house has not been renovated or modernised.
We looked into doing this a few years ago and I think the costs to knock down the walls, add a beam across the room and a pillar to support the walls was something around £20K.
Quite expensive but then you can really see the end result in his house and how this has completely opened up the space.

✔️ In the UK, John Lewis has a good collection of classical sofas with loose cover.
✔️ The Orson armchair (seen in The Guardian) from MADE is similar to the armchair featured above with a modern twist but if you really want a traditional armchair, the Flynn armchair is for you.
✔️ Using soft linen pillow cases is a stylish and affordable way to update or freshen up a sofa and the style of your home according to the seasons or your mood.
House Tour BODIE and FOU Le Blog Karine Candice Kong White Interiors
His kitchen is beautiful too and has been used several times as shooting location for The White Company and other interior brands.

✔️ White Metro tiles can be found online at Topps Tiles or B & Q and laid out half-way through the wall, they will make your room look longer and more spacious.
✔️ The whole collection of white dishes on the shelves are the cast iron Le Creuset and they are available from John Lewis
✔️ You will find similar vintage work benches on Ebay, just make sure the wood is healthy and not filled with worms.
I'm a big fan of hanging two or three simple pendant lights above a kitchen counter. I've used three of these bone china pendant lights in our holiday home in France (available for rent here) but if you wish to achieve a similar industrial look, with a naked bulb, the Shoreditch pendant lights are perfect and at 40% OFF. The Kant pendant light and Freja pendant light are very popular but as they are made of copper, they are most suited to a more polished look or commercial projects.

If all your pots, jars, ceramics have the same hues, they are really great things to display and add a homey feel to your home.
I love mixing vintage and new ceramics with an organic shape and rather than bringing back something too colourful and local from my travels which will end up in a cupboard and eventually in the bin, I try to bring something from each country that will fit my home perfectly like the lovely ceramic jug I brought back from Copenhagen or the wooden spoon bought in France during my styling masterclass last week. This way, I create a home that really reflects my tastes but at the same time, each object has its own little story and happy memories attached to it.

I've mentioned this before but if you love white interiors, using waterproof paint throughout the house if you have children or a boisterous dog is the best thing you can do. It won't prevent scuff marks but it will be a lot less stressful to wipe them off than to have to repaint everything.
This Penelope Ceiling Light in blue is fantastic buy to achieve the look below.

The other room that I really love in Paul's house is his loft conversion which is often a guaranteed way to add value to your home or to create more space without moving.
We are going through the process right now and  realised that depending on how the stairs come through, we may end up with a space a lot smaller than what it looks like when we are standing in the loft. Our previous neighbours have extended the spiral stairs (which was our initial plan) and in the process lost about 4 sqm of floorspace so it is interesting to see how Paul got the entrance into the loft sorted.

What do you think? Do you love this home?

Vanessa Paradis...Go Girl

I don't often write about Vanessa Paradis (but I have a fair amount of photos of her on Pinterest)...yet if there is ONE person in the whole world, I'm a massive fan, it's her and for many reasons.

Elodie and I 'grew up' with her...
Vanessa is three years younger than me and two years older than Elodie.
She was only 14 years old when she became internationally famous with her Joe Le Taxi song (which is still a nice catchy song but far from being her best song) and considering how people who encounter massive success at a young age often go off the tangent, she did pretty well.

I love her because over the years she has made some very good artistic choices and worked with a lot of people I love and admire.
...Lenny Kravitz and I remember the the front cover of the album shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino
...Serge Gainsbourg
...Matthiew Chedid
...Benjamin Biolay
All incredible song writers and poets.
Her beautiful duo with Jeanne Moreau (another amazing lady) at the Cannes Film Festival is one of my favourite and her first Chanel advert filmed by Jean-Paul Goude was beautiful.

I love her because she is also an accomplished Actress.
Something that most people abroad wouldn't necessarily be aware of, as most of her films were in French and not necessarily mainstream, but she has played some pretty tough roles, won a lot of Awards and Nominations including a César Award for the Most Promising Actress in 1990 for her role in Noce Blanche.
Heartbreaker, a fun comedy and Café de Flore in which she plays the role of a single mother in the 60s with a Down syndrome child (she won a Genie Award for Best Actress in the Leading role) are both on Netflix.

I love her because she is discreet
She is not the kind of person you will see on the front cover of all the people magazines, out of choice. She lives a pretty recluse life, get on with it, do her own things and once in a while, go on tour and release another amazing album...and she is brilliant on stage!

I love her as a person.
She has a very soothing voice and I really adore how she stands her ground and responds to journalists when they cross the line...always nice, smiling but firm.
And recently I loved her even more for the woman she is.
Ending a long love story is incredibly painful for anyone involved.
Having it splashed out on magazines and newspapers around the world, frankly must be a real pain and incredibly difficult especially when you have children and you need space to look after yourself, to re-build your life and to move at your own pace and we all know these things take time...
Making choices that not everyone is going to approve takes courage (incl. her recent curly, short haircut) but when I saw this amazing portrait of her in Net-A-Porter, I just thought "you go girl!"
Here is to women's empowerment and to a happy life...

NO ADDED SUGAR | KIDS FASHION

I'm very excited to introduce you to my latest sponsor: NO ADDED SUGAR which I'm sure you already know but if you don't, let me tell you a bit more about this fab kids fashion label.
NO ADDED SUGAR Kids Fashion 0-13 years old British label

Born & Bred in London, No Added Sugar is a great British fashion label that has always created edgy, funky kids collection for babies up to 13 years old.
Launched in 2001, I remember vividly how different and über cool their collections were, when I started attending trade show to source beautiful things for the shop. They were one of the first brands to design interesting things for babies. Do you remember their playsuits & pixie hats with their very distinctive logo?! I do
And things haven't changed...Their collections are still funky and gorgeous and I'm loving their Look book for this season.
Check it out ❤️

Styling masterclass with Anouk B | Joyeuse Clique

20 bloggers...
5 nationalities...
2 days in Pernes-Les-Fontaines...
1 concept store as a playground
= First blogger session organised by Joyeuse Clique at La Maison Pernoise which was just brilliant and definitively the best blogger meeting I've attended.

The styling workshop was run by Anouk B who I absolutely adore but working, sleeping with her (we shared a bedroom) and talking with her about branding, styling, life etc... took my love for her to the next level (and dont get me started on her jumpsuit!)

SLOW DESIGN | SLOW FOODING
Developed around the aesthetics of the beautiful KINFOLK diners, our task on day one, was to style a table for the 50 guests coming for diner in the evening.
I'm not sure if my photos are a credit to the final result but it was beautiful and so was the food prepared by Mistral Gagnant Food Truck.

TRENDS STYLING
Day 2: Anouk talked us through the various trends for 2014/2015 and then we have to pick one theme to style. I chose African Indigo...You can see more images on Instagram

PERSONAL BRANDING
Our last task was to style a moodboard that reflected our personality, what we loved, what we want for the years ahead. For me, it was all about slowing down, linens, whites, textures, raw material, doing things from the heart (as usual) and of course the most important thing in my life: Mila and my family...

WISHLIST 01 | 2014

Despite trying to be my usual upbeat and positive self here, it has been one of the most difficult week at work for various reasons so I'm relishing flying off to France this morning to attend a styling workshop with Anouk at La Maison Pernoise and have a bit of a break.
As I will be missing Liberty's in-store event on Thursday, I've put together some of my favourite pieces...

3/ Aesop (the whole collection will do thanks very much)
Oh and two more things... I'm doing a 30 days-30 ways green smoothies challenge and we are having a Mini Spring Sale in the shop to  make room for the new collection but things are selling out fast and most of it, won't come back in stock.

BODIE AND FOU NEW SS/14 | THE WHITE COLLECTION

I can't say if WHITE & BLISS is my favourite collection out of all the beautiful mini collections we put together for our SS/2014 collection but it is definitively the one that makes me feel the most peaceful and calm so here are my favourite pieces for a blissful Summer...
1/ This Beaded chandelier
Shot last week in my home, it is an extraordinary piece of design. In fact, it is very similar to the chandelier seen in this beautiful family warehouse in Amsterdam but a lot more affordable as this one is made of wooden beads and not clay. Still, it is a very striking and gorgeous piece!

2/ These beautiful white cast iron candlesticks
These are the kind of candlesticks I use in our home in France. They are inexpensive but they really look great and add a very nice French touch to a table. I selected three different sizes ans shapes for you because I think they look much more interesting when mixed together and they are great for an extended dinner party alfresco.

Smooth, tactile, pleasant to hold, these bowls are the perfect companions to start the day gently...tout en douceur. Matching plates can be found here

Both the Z1 and Z5 exudes beauty and simplicity and add a very unique and special feeling of lightness to a room. The Z1 pendant light is 1 meter high though so make sure you have high ceilings.

THE JUMPSUIT | OUTFIT PERFECTION

Given how many jumpsuits I have in my wardrobe, I thought it was time to write about it!
I don't think I ever found anything so versatile. It's feminine, practical, easy to accessorise and very sexy with the right shoes.
Jumpsuits Combinaisons Style & Fashion BODIE and FOU Le Blog
The working mum in me, probably wears them a bit too often now (hence the required ownership of several) but frankly they go with everything! So here is a round up of my favourite models and shoes to go with it.

Plain Jumpsuits
1/ My latest acquisition is this jumpsuit in blue denim. I was actually trying something on at Scotch & Soda when Elodie emailed me a photo of the jumpsuits she was trying in Paris and I ended up ordering it online in the changing room. Big LOVE! The fabric is soft, light and I love the denim colour for the Summer.
Soft denim jumpsuit perfect for the Summer

2/ For a more stylish look, this black Shreela jumpsuit by Malene Birger is one of my fav. It looks very chic and will perfect with any of clutches I mentioned here.
3/ This Elisa jersey jumpsuit by Baukjen is very feminine and easy-to-care for. My favourite detail is the fitted cuff details on the trousers, great to look slimmer.
4/ If you are on a budget, this wrap jumpsuit is looking really good (slim framed required I think as wrap is not really forgiving)
5/ If you have a small upper frame and nicely toned shoulder (which you should have if you've been doing this workout), this V Neck jumpsuit is a must-have! Very flattering, sexy and a great buy for the price.
6/ I don't wear patterns because it doesn't really suit me but I love the summery feel of this Ester jumpsuit.
7/ If you mean business, Reiss has a fantastic collection that will get you a part in the next James Bond!
8/ And if you don't have the time to to shop around, Debenhams has also great selection of jumpsuits
