Family weekend away in... Wales

This is the photo of a sun kissed, salty, sweaty, tired child after a great weekend in Wales....

On Friday, we decided to escape London to hit the beach & go surfing. I looked online for the best beaches within 3 hours of London and found the top 10 UK surf spots
As surfing beginners, we decided to go to the Gower Peninsula in Wales which is about 4 hours away from London and found a nice self-catering cottage* rented out by Gower Holidays Solutions 5 minutes drive from Rhossili beach, allegedly the best beach in Britain and the 3rd best beach in Europe!
While the weather was perfect to go camping, we didn't do this time because we wanted to take Lucas with us and most campsites were not dog-friendly but if you want to do it, here is a link to 5 of the best campsites in Gower. Having stayed on the beach right next to Hillend campsite, I think it's probably where we will go next time.
The thing I love the most about the area (besides the amazing weather) was, how beautiful it was. Some areas reminded me of New-Zealand and it seems the perfect place to horse-ride and surf so we did.
Things to know:
- If you want the kids to do horse-riding, make sure you pack suitable shoes & ring a few first to check classes availability. One didn't take kids under the age of 10 and the one we went too wouldn't let Mila trott because she only had her Salt Water sandals on.
- Expect to pay parking each time you head to the beach.
- Surf rentals for 3 people + wetsuit: £66/day
*I highly recommended as the owner was very welcoming and the place was perfect for a short stay
